1. Parties and Scope

1.1 Parties

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a binding agreement between Pledle ("Pledle", "we", "us", "our", "company") and the individual ("User", "you", "your") using the Platform offered via the pledle.com domain.

1.2 Scope

These Terms cover:

  • The pledle.com website and all subdomains
  • Mobile applications (existing or to be published in the future)
  • API access and integrations
  • All digital services, content, and features ("Platform")

1.3 Consequences of Acceptance

Starting to use the Platform, creating an account, or subscribing to a paid plan signifies that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and our Privacy Policy in their entirety.

If you do not accept these Terms, please do not use the Platform.

1.4 Age Limit

The Platform may only be used by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you may not use the Platform without the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old.


2. Definitions

Terms used in these Terms have the following meanings:

3. Account Creation and Security

3.1 Accuracy of Registration Information

You are responsible for ensuring that all information you provide when creating an account is accurate, current, and complete. Providing misleading or false information may result in the immediate suspension or deletion of your account.

3.2 Account Security

  • You are exclusively responsible for keeping your account password confidential and storing it securely.
  • You may not share, transfer, or sell your account to anyone else.
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You must immediately notify legal@pledle.com if you notice any unauthorized access to your account.

3.3 Single Account Rule

Each user may only open one account. If multiple accounts are detected, all accounts may be suspended.

3.4 Account Transfer

You may not transfer your account to any third party. Attempts to do so will lead to the termination of the account.


4. Subscription Plans and Payment

4.1 Current Plans

Pledle offers the following subscription plans:

Prices are in US Dollars and exclude VAT. Tax obligations may be added according to local legislation.

4.2 Billing

  • Paid subscriptions automatically renew according to your chosen billing period (monthly or annual).
  • The first payment is collected at the start of the subscription.
  • Subsequent payments are automatically taken at the beginning of each billing period.
  • Payment infrastructure is managed by Lemon Squeezy; your card information is not stored on Pledle servers.

4.3 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. In the event of a price increase:

  • You will be notified via email at least 30 days before the change.
  • The new price becomes effective after the current billing period is completed.
  • If you do not accept the price increase, you have the right to cancel your subscription before the new period begins.

4.4 Free Trial

Free trial periods may be offered from time to time. Trial conditions are specified separately, and a transition to a paid subscription occurs at the end of the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial period ends, charging will begin.

4.5 Payment Failure

In case your payment fails:

  • An email notification is sent within 3 business days.
  • Retrying payment occurs within 7 days.
  • If the payment failure is not resolved, your account is downgraded to the Free plan; your data will not be deleted.

5. Cancellation, Refund, and Subscription Termination

5.1 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time:

  • Through the Account Settings → Membership Plan section
  • By sending a written request to legal@pledle.com

The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. From that date, your account transitions to the Free plan.

5.2 Refund Policy

General rule: Due to the nature of digital services, refunds are not provided for services delivered and used.

Exception — 7-day satisfaction guarantee:

First-time subscribing users can receive a full refund if they request it within 7 days from the subscription start date. To exercise this right:

  1. Send an email to legal@pledle.com with the subject "Refund Request."
  2. Specify your account email address and subscription start date.
  3. Your request will be evaluated within 5 business days.
  4. Approved refunds will be made to the original payment method within 5-10 business days.

Cases outside the scope of refund:

  • Requests made after the 7-day period has passed.
  • Cancellation requests for annual subscriptions after the 7th day.
  • Accounts suspended due to a violation of the Terms of Use.
  • Users who have previously used their refund right.

5.3 Annual Subscription Cancellation

When you cancel an annual subscription:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the annual period.
  • No partial refund is made for the remaining time (outside the 7-day window).
  • At the end of the period, your account transitions to the Free plan.

5.4 Account Deletion

When you delete your account completely:

  • All your personal data, book, and chat history are permanently deleted.
  • This process is irreversible.
  • If you have an active subscription, it is automatically cancelled.
  • No refund is made for the remaining subscription time.

6. Use of the Platform and Acceptable Use

6.1 License

Pledle grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the Platform for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided you comply with these Terms.

6.2 Permitted Uses

  • Creating and managing your personal reading library.
  • Performing literary analysis with artificial intelligence features.
  • Tracking reading progress.
  • Using all features offered by the Platform within your plan scope.

6.3 Prohibited Uses

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

Technical violations:

  • Reverse engineering the Platform's source code, algorithms, or databases.
  • Using automated bots, crawlers, or scraping tools.
  • Providing or attempting to provide unauthorized access to the Platform infrastructure.
  • Disabling or attempting to bypass security mechanisms.
  • Sending requests that overload the API or disrupt the system.
  • Unauthorized use of cookies or session data within the Platform.

Content violations:

  • Uploading copyrighted content of others without permission.
  • Inputting misleading, false, or incorrect information.
  • Harassing, threatening, or harming other users.
  • Sending unsolicited commercial communications (spam) via the Platform.
  • Uploading or transmitting harmful software, viruses, or malicious code.

Legal violations:

  • Engaging in any activity that violates applicable laws or regulations.
  • Impersonating others.
  • Using the Platform for illegal purposes.
  • Violating the privacy rights of any third party.

6.4 Usage Limits

Usage limits determined for each plan (number of books, AI message limit, etc.) cannot be exceeded. Technical attempts to exceed limits warrant account termination.


7. Use of Artificial Intelligence Features

7.1 Nature of AI Features

The artificial intelligence-supported chat and analysis features of our Platform operate using OpenAI's GPT-4o model. These features are offered for education, research, or personal development purposes.

7.2 Prohibited Uses for AI

You may not use the AI features for the following purposes:

  • Generating entire works or significant portions of copyrighted works.
  • Creating misleading, false, or harmful content.
  • Attempting to bypass the system's security measures ("jailbreak").
  • Producing content that will harm third parties.
  • Generating content for the purpose of commercial resale.

7.3 Accuracy of AI Responses

AI responses may contain errors, be incomplete, or present outdated information. Pledle does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability for a particular purpose of content generated by AI.

For use in literary analysis, academic work, or professional purposes, it is recommended to verify AI responses with independent sources.

7.4 Copyright and AI Outputs

The legal framework regarding the ownership of content generated by AI is evolving, and the responsibility for copyright disputes that may arise from the use of such content belongs to the user.

7.5 Data Transmission

When you use AI features, your message content is transmitted to OpenAI's servers. Details on this are explained in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy. By using the AI feature, you consent to this data transfer.


8. User Content and Intellectual Property

8.1 Ownership of Your Content

Content you upload to or create on the Platform (your book lists, chat histories, notes, etc.) belongs to you. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your content to Pledle.

8.2 License Granted to Pledle

By uploading or creating content on the Platform, you grant Pledle a limited, royalty-free, worldwide license to use such content for the following purposes:

  • Presentation and maintenance of the service.
  • Operation of the technical infrastructure.
  • Security and fraud prevention.
  • Fulfillment of legal obligations.

This license ends when you delete your account or remove the relevant content. However, data held within the scope of legal storage obligations may constitute an exception.

8.3 Content Responsibility

You represent and warrant that the content you upload to the Platform:

  • Does not violate the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.
  • Complies with applicable laws.
  • Does not damage the privacy or personal rights of others.

The legal consequences arising from the violation of these warranties belong to you.

8.4 Content Removal

To request the removal of content that violates your copyright or other rights, you can apply to legal@pledle.com. Requests are evaluated within the framework of DMCA and relevant international regulations.


9. Pledle's Intellectual Property

9.1 Platform and Its Content

All intellectual property rights, including the design of the platform, software code, user interface, graphics, logos, brand name, slogans, and original content, belong to Pledle and are protected under copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property legislation.

9.2 Restrictions

The following actions are clearly prohibited:

  • Copying, reproducing, or distributing Platform content.
  • Unauthorized use of Pledle's brand name, logo, or other commercial elements.
  • Reverse engineering the Platform software.
  • Creating derivative works from content obtained from the Platform.
  • Reselling or licensing Platform content for commercial purposes.

9.3 Feedback

If you provide feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding the Platform, we reserve the right to use these inputs without any obligation.


10. Privacy

The processing of your personal data is carried out under our Privacy Policy, which constitutes an integral part of these Terms. You can review our Privacy Policy at pledle.com/privacy.

By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted our Privacy Policy.


11. Third-Party Services and Links

11.1 Integrated Third-Party Services

The Platform works integrated with the following third-party services:

  • OpenAI — AI chat engine
  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment infrastructure
  • Resend — email delivery

The terms of use and privacy policies of these services are independent of Pledle's policies. By using the Platform, you accept that you are also subject to the terms of these third-party services.

11.2 External Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. Pledle is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these sites.

11.3 Third-Party Interruptions

Pledle cannot be held responsible for Platform access issues that may arise from service interruptions of OpenAI, Supabase, or other infrastructure providers.


12. Spoiler Protection — Limitation of Liability

12.1 Nature of the Feature

Our Platform offers an automatic spoiler protection system based on the section information read by the user. This system is designed to limit the responses of the artificial intelligence model.

12.2 Limits of Assurance

The spoiler protection feature is provided "as-is." Pledle does not accept responsibility in the following cases:

  • Unintentional information disclosure as a result of the AI ignoring the system instruction.
  • Spoilers occurring due to the user entering incorrect section information.
  • Behavioral changes caused by OpenAI's model updates.
  • The user indirectly obtaining spoilers through their own question.

12.3 User Responsibility

The responsibility for entering section and progress information correctly belongs to the user. Pledle is not responsible for spoilers that may occur as a result of incorrectly entered information.


13. Service Changes and Interruptions

13.1 Right to Change

Pledle reserves the right to make the following changes with or without prior notice:

  • Updating, adding, or removing Platform features.
  • Changing usage limits.
  • Making interface and design changes.
  • Updating technical infrastructure.

For significant changes, notice is provided in advance whenever possible.

13.2 Planned Maintenance

The Platform may be temporarily closed for access during periodic maintenance work. Efforts are made to provide notice before planned maintenance.

13.3 Unforeseen Interruptions

Pledle cannot be held responsible for access issues caused by cyber-attacks, infrastructure failures, natural disasters, third-party service interruptions, or force majeure events.

13.4 Termination of Service

Pledle reserves the right to terminate the Platform completely. In this case:

  • Notice is provided via email at least 30 days in advance.
  • Pro-rata refunds for the remaining time are provided to paid subscribers.
  • An opportunity to download your data is offered.

14. Disclaimer and Limitation of Warranties

14.1 "As-Is" Presentation

The Platform and all content are provided "as-is" and "as-available" without any express or implied warranty.

14.2 Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Pledle does not warrant:

  • That the Platform will operate uninterrupted, error-free, or securely.
  • That errors on the Platform will be corrected.
  • That the Platform or servers are free of harmful software.
  • That AI responses are accurate, complete, or current.
  • The suitability of the Platform for a particular purpose.
  • That the spoiler protection feature will work without error.

15. Limitation of Liability

15.1 Situations of Non-Liability

Pledle cannot be held responsible for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages (including loss of profit, loss of data, loss of business) resulting from the following:

  • Inability to access or use the Platform.
  • Errors or omissions in Platform contents.
  • Unauthorized access or data modification.
  • Interruption of third-party services.
  • Damages resulting from user behavior.

15.2 Maximum Liability

Pledle's total liability against any claim cannot exceed the total subscription fees you paid within the last 12 months before the relevant incident. For free plan users, this amount is $0.

15.3 Exception

Some jurisdictions may not allow certain liability limitations. For users in these regions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by the relevant law.


16. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Pledle, its directors, employees, and representatives against any claims, lawsuits, damages, losses, and costs (including reasonable attorney fees) resulting from the following cases:

  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your uploading of content that violates the rights of third parties.
  • Your use of the Platform for illegal purposes.
  • Your own negligence or intentional actions.
  • Information you provide being incorrect or misleading.

17. Account Suspension and Termination

17.1 Termination by the User

You can delete your account at any time:

  • Through the Account Settings → Danger Zone → Permanently Delete My Account path.
  • By sending a written request to legal@pledle.com.

17.2 Suspension by Pledle

Your account may be suspended without prior notice in the following cases:

  • Violation of these Terms.
  • Payment failure (following the sending of a warning).
  • Engaging in illegal activities.
  • Behaviors that may harm other users.
  • Activities that may pose a security threat.

17.3 Permanent Termination by Pledle

Your account may be permanently deleted in the following cases:

  • Severe or repeated violations of Terms.
  • Fraud or use of false identity.
  • Attempts to attack the Platform.
  • Court order or legal obligation.

17.4 Post-Termination

Upon termination of the account:

  • Your access to the Platform ends immediately.
  • Your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • No refund is made for accounts terminated due to violation.
  • Data held within the scope of legal obligations is an exception to this rule.

17.5 Right to Appeal

You can appeal a suspension decision you believe to be unfair to legal@pledle.com within 14 days. Appeals are evaluated within 10 business days.


18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

18.1 Governing Law

These Terms are interpreted and applied based on the laws of the Republic of Turkey.

18.2 Prior Negotiation

In the event of a dispute, the parties agree to use a negotiation period of 30 days to find a resolution in good faith before applying to legal remedies. Negotiation requests are submitted in writing to legal@pledle.com.

18.3 Mediation

For disputes that cannot be resolved through negotiation, the parties agree to try the path of mediation before filing a lawsuit.

18.4 Competent Court

For disputes that also cannot be resolved through mediation, Istanbul Courts and Execution Offices are authorized.

18.5 EU/EEA Users

Users residing in the European Union or the European Economic Area reserve the right to bring disputes regarding consumer rights to the competent consumer arbitration board or court of the country in which they reside.

18.6 Class Action Waiver

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to waive the right to file a class action or participate in a class arbitration process against Pledle.


19. General Provisions

19.1 Entirety of the Terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between the parties; they replace all previous oral or written agreements.

19.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by competent courts, said provision is limited or removed in the narrowest scope possible; the rest of the Terms continue to remain fully in effect.

19.3 Waiver of Right

Pledle's failure to apply any provision of these Terms does not mean that said provision has been waived.

19.4 Transfer

The User may not transfer their rights and obligations under these Terms to a third party without the written consent of Pledle. Pledle may transfer these rights and obligations by providing prior notice.

19.5 Force Majeure

Pledle cannot be held responsible for its failure to fulfill its obligations due to reasons beyond its reasonable control (natural disaster, war, epidemic, cyber-attack, government decision, infrastructure failure, etc.).

19.6 Updating of the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For significant changes:

  • A notification is sent to your registered email address.
  • A prominent notice is published on the Platform.
  • The "Last Updated" date is revised.

Your continued use of the Platform after the change notification signifies that you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept the Terms, you can delete your account.

19.7 Language

These Terms can be prepared in Turkish and English. In case of conflict, the Turkish text shall prevail.

We recommend that you obtain professional support from a lawyer in the event of a legal dispute.
